As a young woman Grace Andre was living a dream come true. She had earned a music scholarship to the United States International University in San Diego where she studied alongside other future stars like classmate Jamie Foxx. After graduating, she performed on stage, even backing up major recording artist. It was an exciting lifestyle, and doors were opening everywhere for her. But despite her growing success, Grace couldn’t help feeling that she didn’t fit in and never seemed to really feel at home in the industry. What this beautiful woman with the great big voice didn’t know at the time was that she was about to hear from a small voice within.
Grace began to recognize that her uneasiness came from the compromise her success was beginning to demand. It started off with a little here and there, but it began to stir within her a seed which had been planted in her life rears earlier. She began to cry out to God, a God she had heard of, but wasn’t really sure existed. She said, “God, if you are real, then I need to know, and you’re going to have to show yourself to me now,” and so He did just that. Almost immediately, Grace received the Holy Spirit, and over the next year, really began to seek God’s purpose for her life; not what she desired for herself, but His true destiny for her. By the end of the year, Grace made Jesus the Lord of her life and took up the call for which he has gifted her: to spread the Gospel through music.
Since that time, Grace has been on an incredible journey toward a new dream, which with God’s hand, has come to fruition. She has released her first CD “Daughter of Zion”. The title track is an anthem of sorts for other woman, that “as God’s daughter’s we have the power to make changes not only in our lives, but in our community and in our world. As His daughters, that is what we are called to do.”
Long ago, there was a Pentecostal woman preaching the Gospel when being a female Pentecostal preacher was a very unpopular thing to be. But because she knew the call on her life to share the Gospel, she did so unabashedly. Her example planted a seed in the heart of her young grand-daughter, and has left a legacy that has changed the course of Grace’s life to do the same, through music. Anyone who hears the voice of this amazing Grace will be grateful to God for that.
